BARTEK MILER

Bartek Miler (b. 1992 in Paris) is a Polish–French percussionist, soloist, chamber musician, session musician, multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, producer, and educator. He is regarded as one of the most versatile and distinctive percussion artists of his generation, equally at home in classical, contemporary, jazz, and interdisciplinary projects. He is a Yamaha Artist and Resta-Jay Percussions ambassador.

He has gained national and international recognition as both a soloist and chamber musician, distinguished by a strong musical personality, stylistic openness, and a deep commitment to the development of contemporary percussion art. He is a prizewinner of numerous music competitions in Poland, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Greece, and France. Between 2014 and 2016, he was selected to participate in the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, one of the world’s most prestigious solo competitions. At the TROMP International Percussion Competition in Eindhoven, he received the “Annelie” Prize, awarded by an independent youth jury for outstanding musical personality.

Bartek Miler is a recipient of numerous artistic scholarships and grants, including the Polish Ministry of Culture’s “Young Poland” (Młoda Polska) Scholarship, the programs “Culture Online” and “Culture to Go”, as well as scholarships from the Mayor of the City of Poznań and ADAMI (France). He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe and Asia, including concerts in Poland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, and China.

He has appeared on major concert stages, including the Poznań Philharmonic, where he gave the world premiere of the Double Concerto for Chromatic Harmonica, Marimba and String Orchestra together with Kacper Smoliński and the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Agnieszka Duczmal; the performance was broadcast live by Polish Radio Program 2. In June 2024, he performed as a soloist alongside world-renowned saxophonist Branford Marsalis at the Szczecin Philharmonic. He regularly collaborates with leading artists, forming a distinctive trio with guitarist Łukasz Kuropaczewski and accordionist Maciej Frąckiewicz. He is also the percussionist of Marek Napiórkowski’s Quartet in the project “Hipokamp”, and a member of Kacper Smoliński’s jazz ensemble, for which he recorded all percussion parts on the group’s albums. He additionally collaborates with the Polish Dance Theatre in Poznań.

Alongside his performance career, Bartek Miler is actively engaged in composition and production. He produced the international project “If Only I…” (2020) and is the creator of the original percussion performance “Instruction Manual” (Instrukcja Obsługi). In 2021, he was a laureate of the ZAiKS Songwriting Camp, and in 2023 he was awarded the honorary distinction “Meritorious for Polish Culture” by the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage. He completed his master’s studies at the National Conservatory of Music in Lyon, studying with the internationally acclaimed percussionist and pedagogue Jean Geoffroy. In 2021, he earned the degree of Doctor of Arts (DMA equivalent) with distinction, and in January 2026 he obtained the Habilitation degree in Musical Arts, becoming one of the youngest artists in Poland to achieve this academic rank.

Bartek Miler is a dedicated educator and cultural leader. He currently serves as Head of the Percussion Department at the Academy of Music in Poznań, where he leads his own percussion class. His students regularly win prizes at national and international competitions. He gives workshops and masterclasses at universities and professional music schools in Poland and abroad. He is the founder of Miler Workshop, an original educational program consisting of percussion courses focused exclusively on freedom of playing, physical awareness, and the development of instrumental technique. He also served as Chairman and Vice-Director of the 4th National Jerzy Zgodziński Percussion Competition in Poznań.
